Jamaica Cruise Past India to Reach Unity Cup Final After Dominant 2-0 Victory

The Jamaica national football team secured a convincing 2-0 win over India in the Unity Cup 2026 semi-final played at The Valley in London on Wednesday night.

The Reggae Boyz delivered a composed and clinical performance to book their place in the tournament final, where they will now face Nigeria. India, meanwhile, will battle Zimbabwe in the third-place playoff.

Jamaica made a bright start and took the lead as early as the eighth minute through Courtney Clarke, who finished brilliantly to put the Caribbean side ahead. The early goal gave Jamaica confidence as they controlled large spells of possession and looked dangerous on the counterattack.

India attempted to respond through captain Sunil Chhetri’s attacking unit and created a few promising moments, especially in the second half. However, the Blue Tigers struggled to break down Jamaica’s disciplined defence despite improved pressure after the restart.

The decisive moment arrived in the 78th minute when Kaheim Dixon produced a superb solo effort to double Jamaica’s advantage. Dixon danced past several Indian defenders before calmly slotting the ball beyond goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu to seal the victory.

India showed determination throughout the contest, with chances falling to Rahim Ali and Lallianzuala Chhangte, but the finishing touch was missing for Khalid Jamil’s side.

The result marks another strong outing for Jamaica as they continue preparations for upcoming international competitions, while India will look to bounce back quickly in the third-place encounter.

The Unity Cup 2026 features four nations — Jamaica, India, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe — with all matches taking place in London.

Jamaica’s victory now sets up a highly anticipated final clash against Nigeria, promising an exciting showdown between two of the tournament’s strongest teams.
