Flamingos Run Riot in Abidjan as Harmony Chidi’s Hat-Trick Sinks Guinea 5-0

Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, produced a ruthless performance on Saturday evening, thrashing Guinea 5-0 in the first leg of their 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier in Abidjan.

The emphatic away victory puts Nigeria firmly in control of the tie ahead of the second leg scheduled for Saturday, 30 May 2026 in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Captain Chidi Harmony was the undisputed star of the encounter, delivering a sensational hat-trick to lead the Flamingos’ dominant display. The forward opened the scoring just one minute into the game before doubling Nigeria’s advantage in the 12th minute with another brilliant finish.

Nigeria continued to overwhelm their hosts with relentless attacking football, and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi added the third goal in the 39th minute after sustained pressure from the visitors. Harmony completed her hat-trick moments earlier in the 36th minute to cap a remarkable first-half performance as the Flamingos stormed into the break with a massive lead.

The second half followed the same pattern, with the Flamingos maintaining total control of possession and attacking intensity. Mary Dunstan sealed the five-star performance in the 56th minute, putting the result beyond doubt and leaving Guinea with a mountain to climb ahead of the return fixture.

The convincing result is another statement performance from the Flamingos as they continue their quest for qualification to the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup. With a five-goal advantage already secured away from home, Nigeria will head into the second leg in Ikenne full of confidence and with one foot firmly in the next round.
