American sprint star Sha’Carri Richardson has made a strong start at the Tokyo 2025 World Championships, winning heat 3 of the women's 100m in a Season's Best time of 11.03s. The victory was hard-fought, as she came through powerfully in the final meters to edge out Jamaican rival Shericka Jackson.

Jackson, the 200m world champion, finished a close second with a time of 11.04s. The tightly contested race also saw a record-breaking performance from Australia's Torrie Lewis, who secured third place and set a new Australian National Record of 11.08s.

The result highlights the high level of competition and sets the stage for a thrilling semi-final and final, as three of the world's top sprinters have already shown they are in peak form.
