Golden Eaglets Thrash Benin in WAFU U-17 Championship Opener

Nigeria’s U17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, have started their 2025 WAFU-B U17 Championship campaign in spectacular fashion, with a dominant 4-1 victory over the Benin Republic. The match, played in Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire, was effectively decided in the first half thanks to a scoring blitz from the Nigerian side.

Forward George Agah was the star of the show, netting a brilliant hat-trick to open his account for the tournament. He was supported by a sublime goal from David Edeh, whose strike added to the early lead. All four of Nigeria's goals came within the first 35 minutes, showcasing the team's relentless attacking prowess.

The victory not only gives the Golden Eaglets a perfect start but also all but secures their place in the semifinals of the competition, which serves as a qualifier for the next U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
