Defending champions South Africa got their 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign off to a flying start with a 2-0 victory over Ghana in their opening Group C clash.

Played on day 3 of the tournament, the game saw Banyana Banyana take control early, with Linda Motlhalo converting a penalty in the 28th minute to open the scoring. Just six minutes later, Jermaine Seoposenwe doubled the lead with a composed finish, putting the South Africans firmly in charge before halftime.

South Africa’s experience and tactical discipline shone throughout the match, as they neutralized Ghana’s threats and maintained their lead with a commanding performance.
