Nigeria Strikes Gold in Dramatic Mixed 4x400m Finish to Cap Off Day 2!

Team Nigeria closed out Day 2 of the African U18 & U20 Championships in Abeokuta on a golden note, winning the Mixed 4x400m relay final in thrilling fashion!

The race saw both Nigeria and South Africa trading leads, but the turning point came just before the final bend when the South African anchor tripped and fell. However, Favour Onyah had already taken the lead and powered through to secure victory for Nigeria.

This triumph marked Nigeria’s third GOLD medal of the day, following earlier wins in the U18 and U20 Women’s 100m finals by Miracle Ezechukwu and Chioma Cynthia Nweke, respectively.

It was a spectacular finish to an action-packed Day 2 — and a clear signal of Nigeria’s strength on the track!
