Flying Eagles Hold Ghana to 1-1 Draw in WAFU B U-20 Opener

Nigeria’s U-20 men’s national team, the Flying Eagles, battled to a 1-1 draw against arch-rivals Ghana in their opening match of the WAFU B U-20 Boys Qualifier Tournament.

The game, played on Thursday, saw Ghana take the lead in the 24th minute through Aziz Musibau, putting pressure on Nigeria early on.

However, the Flying Eagles kept pushing and were eventually rewarded late in the game when Muhammed Abdullahi rose highest to head home a powerful equalizer in the 84th minute, securing a crucial point for the Nigerian side.

The result leaves both sides level on points as the group stage heats up. Up next for Nigeria is a must-win clash against Benin Republic on Sunday, July 13th, as they continue their quest for a spot in the U-20 AFCON.
