Robert Lewandowski has announced he will step away from the Polish national team and will not return as long as Michał Probierz remains head coach.
The 37-year-old striker released a statement citing a loss of trust in the current managerial setup as the reason behind his decision.
"Considering the circumstances and the loss of trust in the coach of the Polish National Team, I decided to resign from playing in the Polish National Team," Lewandowski said.
Despite stepping away, the legendary forward left the door open for a potential return in the future:
"I hope that I will be able to play for the best fans in the world again."
Lewandowski's exit marks a significant turning point for Poland, with the national team now facing the prospect of moving forward without their all-time top scorer and captain.
