South Africa’s Prudence Sekgodiso, the reigning World Indoor Champion, delivered another statement performance at the Ostrava Golden Spike, storming to victory in the women’s 800m with a dazzling personal best of 1:57.16.
Sekgodiso ran a composed but powerful race, asserting her dominance in the final stretch to cross the line ahead of a strong field.
Oratile Nowe of Botswana followed closely and made history in her own right, clocking 1:57.49 to finish second and break the Botswana national record in the process.
It was a race full of quality and heart, with both athletes showing world-class form ahead of the major summer championships. Sekgodiso’s win further confirms her status as a top contender in global middle-distance running.
