Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of Dario Essugo from Sporting CP for a reported fee of €22.3 million. The Portuguese midfielder joins the club with immediate effect after the deal, which was sealed in March, has now been formally announced.
Essugo, one of Portugal’s brightest young talents, has signed a long-term contract until June 2033, showcasing the Blues' commitment to building a future around top youth prospects.
The 19-year-old made his senior debut for Sporting at just 16 and has been steadily rising ever since. Known for his physicality, energy, and versatility in midfield, Essugo will be expected to continue his development under the watchful eye of new Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca.
This move marks another step in Chelsea’s ongoing youth-focused recruitment strategy, as the club continues to invest in long-term potential.
