Nicolas Jackson Issues Apology After Red Card Against Flamengo: “I Let You Down”

Following his controversial red card in Chelsea’s 3–1 loss to Flamengo at the FIFA Club World Cup, Nicolas Jackson has issued a heartfelt apology to the club, his teammates, and fans.

The Senegalese striker was sent off just four minutes after coming on in the second half, after a reckless tackle that left Chelsea down to ten men in a crucial Group D fixture. The red card further complicated Chelsea’s push for qualification.

In an emotional statement released on social media, Jackson said:

“I want to say sorry. To the club, the staff, teammates, and all the fans watching, I let you down. Another red card and honestly, I’m so angry at myself.”

“I still don’t fully understand how it happened and one thing is clear: it wasn’t intentional. Just a football moment that went the wrong way. No excuses.”

Jackson emphasized that he takes full responsibility for the incident and vowed to come back stronger:

“I’ll reflect so I’ll grow, and I’ll come back stronger for the badge and also for everyone who believes in me. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.”

The red card marks Jackson’s second sending-off of the year and comes at a critical point in Chelsea’s Club World Cup campaign, where they now face a must-win clash in their final group match.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca will be hoping Jackson’s remorse translates into maturity on the pitch as the Blues aim to bounce back and keep their title hopes alive.
