Henrikh Mkhitaryan Confirms Retirement Plans After Inter Milan: "I Won’t Play Just for Money"

Veteran midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has announced that he will retire from professional football once his time at Inter Milan comes to an end, emphasizing that he has no interest in prolonging his career in lower-tier leagues or money-driven moves.

Speaking to Sky Italia, the 35-year-old Armenian said:

“After Inter, I stop. I don’t want to lower the level. I won’t go back to play in Armenia and destinations like Saudi Arabia don’t interest me.”

Mkhitaryan, known for his elegance, intelligence, and work ethic on the pitch, added:

“With all due respect, I love football for the game, not for the money.”

The former Manchester United, Arsenal, and AS Roma star has been a key figure in Inter Milan’s midfield since joining in 2022, playing a crucial role in their recent domestic and European campaigns.

His decision underlines a rare stance in modern football—one rooted in passion over profit—and signals the closing chapter of a storied career defined by integrity and quality.
