FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Final Signing & Squad Registration Rules Explained

As the FIFA Club World Cup approaches, clubs face strict deadlines and squad regulations ahead of the tournament. Here's a breakdown of the rules, as reported by Ben Jacobs:

  • Deadline for signings before the tournament: June 10.

  • Clubs must submit a squad list of up to 35 players by that date.

  • Between June 27 – July 3, clubs are allowed to make changes to the squad—this window is specifically for the knockout stage.

Key Rules During This Period:

  • Clubs may replace players whose contracts expire on June 30.

  • Even if no names are dropped, clubs can add up to two new players during the late window, taking the squad size to a maximum of 37.

  • A total of six outfield changes are allowed (via signings or replacements).

  • Goalkeeper swaps (due to injury, illness, or contract expiry) do not count toward the six-player limit.

These rules give clubs some flexibility, but also force early decision-making as they prepare for global competition.
