As preparations intensify for the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, the league’s management has issued a directive outlining mandatory stadium infrastructure requirements for all participating clubs. The notice, dated 3rd June 2025, was signed by Davidson Owumi, NPFL's Chief Operating Officer.
In the letter addressed to club chairmen and general managers, the NPFL emphasized the importance of meeting Grade A stadium standards ahead of the new season. Two key requirements were highlighted:
-
Standard LED Floodlights – Clubs must ensure their stadiums are equipped with fully functional LED floodlights that provide adequate illuminance for night matches.
-
Backup Generator Power Supply – A reliable generator system is required to guarantee uninterrupted lighting during matches, especially in the event of a power outage.
The league body warned that failure to meet these standards could impact clubs’ approval to use their primary home grounds for the upcoming season.
The NPFL urged clubs to prioritize these infrastructure upgrades ahead of the routine stadium inspections to ensure a smooth and successful campaign.
