Goals from De Vrij and Correa sealed the victory for Simone Inzaghi’s men, with Como reduced to ten men just before half-time following Pepe Reina's red card. Inter controlled proceedings from that point, finishing the game with an xG of 1.56 compared to Como’s 1.43.
Despite falling short, Inter can be proud of a season in which they scored 114 goals in all competitions – their highest tally since the 1929/30 single-round format, overtaking the 113-goal mark from 2019/20. Defensively, they also improved late in the season, keeping three clean sheets in their last four Serie A matches, a stark contrast to just three in the previous 16.
It marks a strong finish to the campaign, but ultimately, Napoli’s consistency wins them the crown, with Inter left to settle for second place and reflect on what might have been.
