American sprint star Fred Kerley delivered a scorching performance at the Franson Last Chance Meet in California, clocking a wind-assisted 9.87 seconds (+2.9 m/s) to win the men’s 100m final.
Kerley, the 2022 World 100m champion, looked in fine form as he powered ahead of a competitive field, finishing ahead of Benjamin Azamati of Ghana, who also impressed with a swift 9.93s to take second place.
Earlier in the meet, Kerley had already signaled his intent with a windy 9.95s in the preliminary round, showcasing consistency and speed heading into the crucial summer season.
While the wind readings were above the legal limit for record purposes, the times underline both athletes' sharpness and promise as the Olympic season heats up.
