23 Nations Book Spots for 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile — Nigeria Leads Africa’s Charge with 14th Appearance


A total of 23 nations, including host country Chile, have officially secured their places at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, set to be staged later this year in South America. The tournament promises to be a global showcase of emerging football talent, bringing together the best under-20 teams from around the world.

Among the qualified teams are four African nations—Nigeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and South Africa—each of which earned their spots through standout performances at the CAF U-20 competition held across various Egyptian cities.

Leading Africa’s contingent is Nigeria, the most successful African side in the history of the U-20 World Cup. The Flying Eagles will be making a record 14th appearance at the tournament. Their past achievements include two runner-up finishes in 1989 and 2005, and consistent deep runs in numerous editions, solidifying their reputation as a powerhouse in youth football.
