According to Obinabo, the young man began his apprenticeship at the age of 18, but just three months into his training, he impregnated both his boss's daughter and the salesgirl working for the business. This led to him being sent packing from his apprenticeship. However, the story did not end there. In the two months that followed his dismissal, the young man reportedly impregnated eight more girls in his village.
The commissioner shared the news during a live video on social media, appealing to the public for help. "I want advice from the public because this one is beyond my capacity," she stated. Obinabo narrated her conversation with the boy, revealing that he claimed to simply tell the girls he loved them and promised to marry them once he became wealthy.
The apprentice's mother also reportedly approached the commissioner's office, expressing her distress over the situation. She confided that she now becomes anxious whenever she sees a girl approaching their house, fearing the worst.
Commissioner Obinabo admitted that the matter was beyond her capacity to handle, especially considering the boy’s age and the number of girls involved. She further questioned if there might be a spiritual element to the situation, given its unusual nature.
For now, the boy's community and the names of the pregnant girls have not been disclosed, as the commissioner continues to seek solutions to the complex issue.
This incident has sparked widespread conversation in the community, with many concerned about the social and moral implications for all parties involved. The Commissioner has called on community leaders, social welfare experts, and concerned citizens to provide guidance on how best to manage the matter moving forward.
