You left Barca because of money – Rothen Blasts Messi

By Daniel Oriloye - Former Paris Saint-Germain player Jerome Rothen has criticised Lionel Messi for abandoning Barcelona to join PSG all because of money.

He claimed that the seven times Ballon d’Or winner only left Barcelona because the Camp Nou landlords could not afford to pay what he wanted.

Rothen in an interview said that the 2022 World Cup winner now wants to leave Parc des Princes after making money and not caring at all about the club.

“I have no words. It’s completely out of place. That’s how much he doesn’t give a damn about the world since he arrived.

“He didn’t come for the right reasons, he only came for the financial conditions. In Barcelona, we know very well why he left. They could no longer pay him the way they paid him," he said.
