By Emmanuel Oladele - Akwa United on Thursday beat Gombe United by 1-0 in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 8 game at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. The Uyo based team have now climbed to fourth on the NPFL Group A Log.
Former Sokoto United striker Uche Collins scored in the 8th minute for Akwa United to earn his second goal of the season, and to give the Deji Ayeni's led side a early lead in the game.
The first half of the encounter ended 1-0 in favour of the host, while the second half failed to produced any goal.
Akwa United have moved to the fourth position on Group A log with 14 points, though, they shared the same number of points with Remo Stars, but are better on goal difference. On the other hand, Gombe United remained in seventh position.
At the end of regulation time, it's Akwa United 1-0 Gombe United, so it ended at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.
