How Nigerian Players fared in UEFA Europa League Round of 16 First Leg

By Emmanuel Oladele - Super Eagles players and other Nigerian stars were involved in the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 games on Thursday for their respective clubs. The players are;

• Moses Simon: The Super Eagles attacker was a 77th minute substitute as his side Nantes played a 1-1 draw against Juventus at the Juventus Stadium. Moses replaced Mostafa Mohamed in the 77th minute, and made his mark for the few minutes he played. Nantes' Ludovic Blas scored in the 60th minutes to cancel Dusan Vlahovic early strike.

• Calvin Bassey: The Nigerian International was on for Ajax for the entire duration of the game, as Ajax played a barren draw with Union Berlin at Amsterdam ArenA. Bassey was solid at the back line for the Heitinga's led side, to see that his side never concede any goal in the game.

• Mark Nnamdi Ugbon: The 19-year-old Nigerian Goalkeeper was an unused substitute for his side FC Midtjylland of Denmark, as they played a 1-1 draw with Sporting at the Estadio José Alvalade. Emam Ashour gave FC Midtjylland the lead in the 77th minute, but an injury time goal from Sporting's Sebastian Coates levelled the game for the host.

• Lesley Chimuanya Ugochukwu: The 18-year-old is a French Footballer, but of Nigerian descent. He tasted 77 minutes of action for his side Rennes in their 2-1 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk at the Polish Army Stadium. He was replaced in the 77th minute by Baptiste Santamaria. He has represented France U18 and U19, but yet to play for their National team. Ugochukwu is the Nephew of former OGC Nice and Super Eagles Centre-back Onyekach Apam.
