"Thank You Wizkid" - Ghana Fans React to Sad Condition of Accra Stadium Pitch After Wizkid Concert

By Olamide Oyetunji - The Ghana National Sports Authority (NSA) has closed down the Accra Sports Stadium for BetPawa Ghana Premier League matches because it has been rented out for Christmas Festivities musical concert.

Due to that, Accra Hearts of Oak have moved their home venue matches for the 2022/23 BetPawa Premier League to the Cape Coast Sports Stadium

Also Accra Great Olympics and Accra Lions FC have moved their home venue of the 2022/23 BetPawa Premier League to Sogakope Red Bull Arena.

The Accra Sports Stadium would be only available in the second week of January 2023.

The pictures trending on social media is showing the current state of Accra Sports Stadium after the Wizkid concert.

It must be recalled that the Nigerian musical legend didn't attend the concert due to “safety and production issues” which he said are likely to hinder him from delivering a quality show that his fans deserve.

“Ghana is a country I hold so dear to my heart, first and foremost I wanna apologise to all my fans! Y’all know I would never do anything, without a serious reasoning behind it,” 

Accra Lions was scheduled to play Samartex on Monday but game has been moved to Sogakope WAFA Park.

Meanwhile,Shatta Wale and Medikal will host second Freedom Concert at same venue on 25th December which will likely prevent Hearts of Oak home game against Bechem United.
