World Cup 2022: Saudi Arabia declares tomorrow as public holiday

By Daniel Oriloye - Saudi Arabia has declared tomorrow a national holiday following their shock 2-1 World Cup win over Argentina in Qatar today.

Led by former Zambia and Coté d’ivoire coach, Renard Havre, the Middle Eastern nation produced one of the biggest upsets in the World Cup history.

Lionel Messi had given one of the tournament favourites the lead from the penalty spot after a contentious VAR decision in the tenth minutes, but Saleh Al-Shehri levelled just three minutes into the second period to set up an almighty upset.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, King Salman has approved the suggestion by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the country to have a ‘celebration day’ following the come back win over Lionel Messi and Co.

All public and private sector employees as well as students in every level of the Saudi educational system with be given a holiday tomorrow, to celebrate Hervé Renard’s side shocking Argentina, and the world, with two superb finishes and a wave of pressing, aggression and intensity after the break before then producing some brilliant last-ditch defending.
