Meet the Super Eagles' New John Obi Mikel Discover By Gernot Rohr

By Olamide Oyetunji - Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr has listened to the outcry of passionate football lovers in Nigeria concerning the number one soccer team in the most populous black nation. The future of the Franco-German is still dark to public but reports had it that he has submitted 40-man provisional list to the Nigeria Football Federation with few surprises.

According to sources closer to the Sunday Dankoro Abuja based body, Rohr has added two creative midfielders to the team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for January. Ovie Ejaria is relatively a known talented skillful midfielder to Super Eagles fans monitoring English football but it seems Coach Gernot Rohr has another lifeline. Gernot Rohr has discovered a teenage prodigy in German Football to finally solve the long lingered creativity issues with the Super Eagles. Uche Destiny Obiogumu is the boy to fill the creative midfield void in the Super Eagles.

The development is seen as the one that will help the team to become better equipped for their set goals at continental and international levels. Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr was invited by coach of Hoffenheim to watch Uche play for the U19 team against Bayern Munich with Destiny Uche leaving a positive impression on the Nigerian coach with his ability to pick passes in tight areas. Gernot Rohr has compared his style of play to that of former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel.
Born in Nigeria but left at the age of 5, he isn’t going to need a switch of nationality process as he hasn’t played for any national team of Germany. The whizkid was pleased to meet Rohr who sees him as ready for senior national team football despite the fact that he is yet to make his first team bow with Hoffenheim.
