Four Non-Regular Super Eagles' Players that Rohr must take to AFCON Considering their Recent STATS and Form

By Emmanuel Oladele - As the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations approaches, The Super Eagles of Nigeria are also making preparation ahead of the biggest African Football Tournament.

For Nigeria to go far in the tournament, there are these four non-regular players in the Super Eagles that must be invited for the competition which hold between January 9 and February 6, 2022. The agitation for their invitation is based on their brilliant recent STATS and form, the players are;


1. Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis: The Watford forward has being in a superb form under Watford new manager Claudio Ranieri, he has been brilliant in assisting and scoring goals. Dennis has scored six goals and bagged five assists for Watford in the on going 2021/22 Premier League season. The Watford Star has scored same number of goals as Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo, and currently in 5th position alongside Ronaldo and two others on premier league top scorers chart

The presence of the 24-year-old forward will bring a lot of competitions in the Super Eagles' attack and create more options for coach Gernot Rohr upfront.

2. Taiwo Awoniyi - The Union Berlin of Germany forward has not really enjoyed time with the Super Eagles due to availability of several options for coach Gernot Rohr upfront, but the 24-year-old forward has also proved that he has what it takes to lead the attack of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the upcoming AFCON despite the availability of several other options in the Eagles' attack. Awoniyi has being in a great form since the beginning of the ongoing season, scoring 9 goals so far, he's currently the 3rd on Bundesliga top scorers chart, behind Bayern's Robert Lewandowski and Dortmund's Erling Haaland who are on 14 and 10 goals respectively.

A third highest goals scorer in one of the European major league will be a great addition to the Super Eagles in the upcoming AFCON, scoring goals will be very easy for Nigeria with the addition of Taiwo Awoniyi.

3. Ademola Lookman - The 24-year-old forward joined Leicester City on loan from RB Leipzig at the beginning of the 2021/22 season. In recent time, Lookman has been regular for the Foxes and has shown that he's a great winger with his pace and dribbles, though he has not been so fantastic when it comes to goalscoring STATS, but he has always create problems for his team's opponent's. The English born Nigerian just switched allegiance to Nigeria after representing England at the Youth level, his presence in the Super Eagles' AFCON squad will create Nigeria's fear in other teams because of the attacking prowess of the 24-year-old forward.

4. Cyriel Dessers - The Feyenoord forward has been fantastic in the Eredivisie this season, scoring four goals and bagging one assist in 10 appearances, his addition to the Super Eagles' AFCON squad will help Nigeria to do a good substitution upfront during games, he may not be better than the likes of Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, but can also rise to the occasion when need be in the upcoming AFCON if included in the list of 28 players for the tournament.
