By Emmanuel Oladele - The Super Falcons of Nigeria earlier today put up a good fight to get a fair result against 29th Ranked Portugal in the USA Summer Series. It was a very difficult game, but the Nigerians never stop fighting until the final minute.

In the 44th minute, Nigeria got their first goal via a superb strike from Michelle Alozie to end the first half 2-1 in favour of the European side.

Portugal were the first to score after the resumption of the second half, Telma Encarnacao 49th minute strike earned the Portuguese a 3-1 lead.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria were determined, and they forced the scoreline to 3-2 in the 52nd minute courtesy of Diana Gomes own goal.

The Nigeria never relented until they got the equaliser in the 94th minute via a great strike from Rasheedat Ajibade, to end the game 3-3.

Generally, the Falcons had an improved performance, but coach Randy Waldrum will still have a lot of works to do on the defence as they face Number 1 ranked United State of America in their next game.

A 3-3 scoreline is a fair result for Nigeria which is ranked 38th in the world, against 29th ranked Portugal.
