Daniel James scored in the 10th minute of the first half to United an early lead in the thrilling encounter, thanks to McTominay's beautiful run from the midfield that earned James a superb ball delivery that assisted the goal. The first half of the encounter ended 1-0 in favour of visiting United.
The second half had determined Southampton getting the equaliser via Jannik Vestergaard strike in the 58th minute.
