Gernot Rohr to decide on Mikel AFCON chance

The Nigeria National Team handler Gernot Rohr has stated that he will have to a make decision on whether to or not to include the Super Eagles skipper John Mikel Obi in AFCON squad as the tournament date draw near.

The German tactician added that Mikel is still very much part of the team but he will have to meet with the experience midfielder at Boro to decide his availability for Afcon 2019.
“He has been away from the team for a year but we qualified for the AFCON without him. His absence as our captain, has been evident, but Mikel had a range of issues to deal with after the World Cup in Russia.”

Mikel last appearance for the Super Eagles was in their last group game against Argentina at the FIFA World Cup in Russia. The midfielder failed to participate in any of the six AFCON qualifier games played by the Super Eagles.
