C. Ronaldo sees red, United dazzles, Madrid on fire, City not finding their rhythms, all in Wednesday night UEFA Champions League showdown

The Wednesday UEFA Champions League came with so much stories, on top of the stories was Ronaldo's red card. The current World Footballer of the year was given a match order on Wednesday night after engaging in a vigorous struggle with Jeison Murrilo and been watched by an official behind the net in what appeared that Ronaldo was putting his hand on the head of the centre-back in the 18-yard box which was viewed to be offensive.

The second came from the spot in the 44th minute to double United lead. Pogba also assisted Martial in the 66th minute to give United the third goal for the night. Manchester United are topping group H with goals difference.

City could only redeem their image in the 66 minute with just one goal from Bernardo Silva, thanks to an assist from German Leroy Sane. The game ended 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium in favour of visiting Lyon.

City will hope to return to winning ways when they face Hoffenheim on the 2nd of October in Germany.
