Cameroon 1-1 Nigeria: Indomitable Lions Eliminated

African Champions, the indomitable Lions of Cameroon will not play the 2018 FIFA World Cup after failing to win Nigeria in a round four qualifying match on Monday in Yaounde.

After early pressure from Cameroon, Nigeria Super Eagles took the lead against the run of play through Moses Simon after a nice footwork by Odion Ighalo that caused a goal mouth scramble for an onrushing Gent winger to blast home in the 30th minute.

Nigeria failed to capitalize on multiple opportunities before the conclusion of the half with Odion Ighalo and Victor Moses the major culprits.

After Substitutions in the second half by both sides, Cameroon unrelenting attitudes finally paid off when Ikechukwu Ezenwa was adjudged to have fouled Vincent Aboubakar and the FC Porto striker sends Ezenwa the wrong way to level parity in the 75th minute.

Nigeria were able to hold on to send Cameroon out of contention for a place in Russia 2018 global fiesta.

Nigeria now have 10points in four matches and 6points more than Zambia who are facing Algeria tomorrow in Constantine while Cameroon have 3points.
Nigeria will welcome Zambia on the 7th of October for the decider.
