What Super Eagles Must Do To Overcome Cameroon By Olamide Sunday Oyetunji

The battle for a place in Russia becomes more interesting following the recent status of the indomitable lions of Cameroon at the just concluded Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Initially, thought of three countries that were part of Brazil 2014 made people to conclude that it is a Group of Death and not underestimating the prowess of Zambia in Africa.

The Cameroon team is new, young and the Afcon Success finally erase the names of the eight players that betrayed the country by turning down invitations from Coach Hugo Broos list for the crucial ties with Nigeria except for miracle or a poor Fifa Confederations Cup in June.

• Vital Things Ahead of Nigeria vs Cameroon

-The Cameroonians are very strong and highly muscular just like the Olembes, Mbomas, Njitaps e.t.c.

-The indomitable lions have jelled and the Chemistry is massive going into the game against Super Eagles where they need at least four points.

-A false nine like Kelechi Iheanacho will never win battles and duels against Teikeu Adolphe and Michael Ngadeu.

-John Obi Mikel, John Ogu, Ogenyi Onazi and Oghenekaro Etebo are players that suits Sebastian Siani and Arnaud Djoum.Playing Iheanacho and Iwobi together may affect our Midfield in terms of domination especially in Yaounde.

-Cameroon can sit and defend so deep so as to avoid the likes of Victor Moses,Simon Moses,Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa and Alex Iwobi causing any damage behind.

-The distance between Yaounde and Uyo makes things more interesting as both teams will have decent supports in both legs.

Winning AFCON gives this current Cameroon team a different mentality when they meet us later this year. They have found their rhythm and confidence. Their greatest strengths has always been their doggedness and it seems to have found their competition.
They are going to give us a run for our money when we meet them in the world cup qualifier. That first game in Nigeria is going to be the most important game in this World Cup Qualification series and it is what will decide whether we are going to the world cup or not.

One thing Cameroon coach has done is playing their wingers in their opposite positions. Bassogog is left footed and plays in the right wing. Moukanjo is right footed and plays in the left wing. For example, Ambroise Oyongo Bitolo is right back playing as left back.

That was how they dealt with oppositions through cut-ins as inverted fullbacks and wingers. They are using their stronger legs against weaker ones of the opponents.
