Barcelona thrash Alaves 6-1 as Raphinha and Lamine Yamal score braces

Barcelona, Spain — Barcelona returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion on Saturday, recording a convincing 6-1 victory over Deportivo Alaves in their LaLiga Matchday 11 encounter at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Raphinha and Lamine Yamal both scored twice, while Fermín López and substitute Anthony Gordon also found the net as Hansi Flick's side produced an impressive attacking display.

The victory was an important response from the Catalan giants following consecutive defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, allowing them to maintain their position at the top of the LaLiga standings.

Raphinha inspires Barcelona's first-half dominance

Barcelona wasted little time establishing control of the encounter, opening the scoring in the eighth minute through Raphinha.

Fermín López initiated the move with an excellent pass from midfield before advancing down the left and delivering a low cross for the Brazilian winger to finish.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the 23rd minute when Lamine Yamal set up Fermín, who produced a powerful finish from a tight angle to beat goalkeeper Antonio Sivera.

Raphinha extended Barcelona's lead in the 41st minute, completing his brace after receiving an excellent pass from Fermín López.

The Brazilian controlled the ball before firing a precise effort into the net to make it 3-0.

Barcelona added a fourth goal just before half-time as Yamal produced a superb finish from the edge of the penalty area, leaving Alaves with a difficult task after the interval.

Yamal completes brace as Barcelona score twice more

Barcelona maintained their attacking intensity after the restart, with Flick's men continuing to dominate possession and create opportunities.

Yamal completed his brace in the 64th minute after receiving a through ball from Gabriel Jesus.

The goal was initially ruled out for offside, but a VAR review overturned the decision and confirmed Barcelona's fifth goal.

Anthony Gordon, who replaced Yamal in the 74th minute, added another goal seven minutes later.

The English forward raced onto a defence-splitting pass from Rodri before calmly lifting the ball over Sivera to make it 6-0.

Alaves managed to score a consolation goal in the 84th minute when Mariano Díaz capitalised on a defensive mistake to beat Joan García.

However, the late goal did little to change the outcome as Barcelona comfortably secured all three points.

Fermín López delivers outstanding performance

Although Raphinha and Yamal attracted attention with their two goals apiece, Fermín López was another standout performer.

The midfielder registered one goal and two assists, playing a major role in Barcelona's attacking success.

His movement, creativity and ability to break through the Alaves defence provided the hosts with a constant attacking threat.

The match also provided an opportunity for young defender Brian Fariñas to make his first-team debut, with Flick forced to adjust his defensive options because of several injuries.

Barcelona remain top of LaLiga

The victory takes Barcelona to 30 points from 11 league matches, keeping them at the summit of the standings.

Flick will be particularly pleased with the team's attacking response after the disappointment of their recent defeats, although the defensive mistake that led to Alaves' goal remains an area to address.

For Alaves, the defeat represents a disappointing afternoon after struggling to contain Barcelona's attacking quality throughout the contest.

Barcelona will now turn their attention to their next assignment as they look to maintain their advantage in the Spanish title race.
