Peter Ndlovu Appointed Scottland FC Interim Coach After Norman Mapeza Exit

Harare — Zimbabwe football legend Peter Ndlovu has been appointed interim head coach of Scottland FC following the departure of Norman Mapeza after the club’s elimination from the CAF Champions League.

The appointment, confirmed on 26 October 2026, sees Ndlovu move from his previous role as team manager to take charge of the reigning Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League champions for the remainder of the campaign.

Scottland announced Mapeza’s departure after the team surrendered a two-goal first-leg advantage against Angola’s Petro de Luanda, losing 3–0 in the return leg to exit the continental competition 3–2 on aggregate.

Ndlovu Takes Charge of Interim Technical Team

Ndlovu, a former captain of Zimbabwe’s national team, will lead Scottland as the club works to appoint a permanent successor to Mapeza.

He will be assisted by Danger Fourpence, who has been promoted from the Scottland Academy. Experienced forward Knowledge Musona has also been given a player-assistant coach role, while goalkeeper Talbert Shumba will take responsibility as goalkeepers’ coach.

The reshuffle is intended to provide continuity as Scottland approach the final stages of their domestic campaign.

Ndlovu previously worked as team manager at the club and has a CAF A coaching licence. His familiarity with the squad and the club’s structure will be important as he takes on his new responsibilities.

Champions League Exit Triggers Coaching Change

Scottland’s continental campaign ended in disappointment after they were unable to protect the 2–0 advantage earned in the first leg against Petro de Luanda.

The Angolan side responded with a 3–0 victory in the return fixture, advancing 3–2 on aggregate and ending Scottland’s hopes of progressing further in the CAF Champions League.

The setback came amid pressure to maintain the club’s domestic ambitions. Mapeza and his technical team subsequently left their positions, with Ndlovu handed the immediate task of steadying the side.

CAPS United Await Ndlovu’s Debut

Ndlovu’s first match in charge is scheduled to be against CAPS United on Thursday, 29 October, at Rufaro Stadium.

Scottland remain focused on their league campaign and the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup, leaving the interim coach with little time to settle into the role.

The club will hope the change in leadership can help restore momentum and keep their domestic ambitions on track while management considers a permanent appointment.

For Ndlovu, the appointment represents a significant new chapter in his football career, giving the former Warriors captain an opportunity to lead one of Zimbabwe’s leading clubs from the touchline.
