Crystal Palace fight back to beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 as Pino seals comeback

London, England — Crystal Palace produced an impressive comeback to defeat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Selhurst Park on Sunday, 11 October 2026, earning their first home Premier League victory of the season and spoiling former manager Oliver Glasner’s return to south London.

Forest took an early lead through Dan Ndoye, but Palace responded with goals from Daichi Kamada, Jefferson Lerma and Yéremy Pino to claim all three points. The victory also gave Palace manager Pierre Sage his first home Premier League win since taking charge in the summer.

Forest strike early through Ndoye

Nottingham Forest made the brighter start and took the lead in the third minute after capitalising on a defensive mistake.

Anan Khalaili’s weak headed pass allowed Ndoye to race through on goal, and the forward calmly finished beyond Palace goalkeeper Walter Benítez to put the visitors ahead.

Forest continued to threaten, with Morgan Gibbs-White creating opportunities and Daniel Muñoz going close against his former club. Palace struggled to contain the visitors during the opening half-hour, but Benítez produced several important saves to keep his team in the contest.

One of the goalkeeper’s finest moments came when he reacted brilliantly to deny Liam Delap from close range after Gibbs-White’s effort struck the crossbar.

Kamada and Lerma turn the game around

Palace found their equaliser in the 41st minute through Kamada, who finished a flowing attacking move involving Quinten Timber and Jørgen Strand Larsen.

The goal was Kamada’s first in the Premier League and gave the hosts renewed belief after a difficult opening period.

Palace then completed the turnaround in first-half stoppage time. Adam Wharton delivered a corner, and Lerma rose to meet it with a header that took a decisive deflection off Khalaili before crossing the line in the 45th minute, with the goal credited to Lerma at 45+4.

The late goal left Forest facing a deficit at half-time despite having created several promising chances.

Pino seals Palace victory after the break

Forest came out aggressively after the interval and nearly equalised when a deflected effort involving Gibbs-White struck the post.

However, Palace proved more clinical in front of goal and extended their lead in the 59th minute.

Timber’s forward pass helped set the move in motion, and Strand Larsen’s attempt was saved by Matz Sels. The rebound fell to Pino, who composed himself before firing past the covering defender to make it 3-1.

Benítez remained alert at the other end, producing another important save to deny Delap’s close-range header as Forest searched for a way back into the match.

Palace managed the closing stages effectively to secure a valuable victory in front of their home supporters.

Glasner’s return ends in disappointment

The fixture attracted additional attention because Glasner returned to Selhurst Park as Nottingham Forest head coach after leaving Palace in the summer.

The Austrian had previously led Palace to the UEFA Conference League title, and he received a warm reception before kick-off. However, the home crowd’s mood changed as Palace completed their comeback, with chants directed towards the visiting manager during the second half.

Forest’s inability to convert their early chances proved costly, while Palace’s goalkeeper and attacking players made the most of the decisive moments.

Palace climb to 12th in the Premier League

The result moved Crystal Palace up to 12th in the Premier League table and delivered three important points after the international break.

Sage will be encouraged by his side’s resilience after conceding early, although the defensive problems exposed in the opening half remain an area to address.

Palace now turn their attention to a busy week, with a European fixture against Olympique Lyonnais and a Premier League meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion on the horizon.

For Forest, the defeat raises questions about their defensive organisation and missed opportunities, as Glasner looks to regroup ahead of their next fixture.
