Cole Palmer Signs a New Chelsea Contract until 2034

LONDON, England — Cole Palmer has signed a new Chelsea contract until June 2034, on improved terms, adding a year to a deal that already ran to 2033.

The 24-year-old said he could feel the ambition. “I am so happy here and with Xabi Alonso as manager. Chelsea means a lot to me. I think the club is going in the right direction, so I’m delighted to sign and I’m obviously very happy.” He said talks with the owners, the sporting directors and the manager had given him confidence.

Palmer joined from Manchester City in 2023 for £42.5 million and signed his previous contract only two years ago. This is his second extension. He has been involved in six goals in seven matches this season and is increasingly treated as a dressing-room leader. He has built an understanding with João Pedro, and has renewed his partnership with Morgan Rogers, whom he has called his best friend in football, under Alonso.

The length puts him alongside a short list. Erling Haaland at City, and Chelsea team-mates João Pedro and Geovany Quenda, are also contracted to 2034. The renewal sits with a run of extensions: João Pedro in August, Pedro Neto last month, and deals for Reece James and Moisés Caicedo in the past year. Chelsea are tying the core of the squad to the project and to the wage structure.

Palmer has won two trophies since arriving from City. The new deal does not change the next fixture. It changes the horizon. He is a Chelsea player until the summer of 2034.
