London, England — Chelsea returned from the international break in spectacular fashion, sweeping aside Bournemouth 5–1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 10 October 2026, as Jordan Henderson and João Pedro both scored twice in a commanding Premier League performance.
Henderson opened and completed the scoring with two outstanding strikes, while Morgan Rogers and João Pedro also found the net to help Xabi Alonso’s side bounce back from their 3–0 defeat to Brentford before the break.
Evanilson scored Bournemouth’s only goal, but the visitors could not recover after Chelsea’s explosive start.
Henderson and Rogers put Chelsea in control

Three minutes later, Henderson capped an outstanding display with a stunning free-kick from around 25 yards. The midfielder curled the ball into the net after Palmer was fouled, completing his brace and sealing Chelsea’s 5–1 victory.
Henderson’s two goals and assist made him one of the standout performers, while João Pedro’s clinical finishing underlined Chelsea’s attacking threat.
Chelsea respond in style
The victory gave Chelsea a timely boost after their disappointing loss at Brentford before the international break. Alonso’s side showed greater attacking sharpness and made the most of their opportunities, particularly during the opening minutes and immediately after half-time.
The result also moved Chelsea up to fifth in the early Premier League standings, according to reports following the match.
For Bournemouth, the defeat extended a difficult run without a league victory. Despite finding the net through Evanilson, they struggled to contain Chelsea’s attacking combinations and were punished by defensive errors.
Chelsea will now look to carry the momentum into their next fixture, an away meeting with Everton on 17 October. Bournemouth must regroup as they seek to turn their league form around.
