Bezzecchi wins Indonesian MotoGP as Martín reclaims championship lead

Mandalika, Indonesia — Marco Bezzecchi stormed to victory at the Indonesian Grand Prix on Sunday, 11 October 2026, leading an historic Aprilia top-four finish as Jorge Martín reclaimed the lead of the MotoGP World Championship.

Bezzecchi passed pole-sitter Raúl Fernández with nine laps remaining and pulled away to win by 4.260 seconds at the Mandalika International Street Circuit. Fernández finished second despite revealing after the race that he had fractured two fingers in Saturday’s sprint, while Martín completed the podium.

Bezzecchi makes decisive move

Fernández made a strong start and held the lead through the opening stages, keeping Bezzecchi under pressure despite his hand injuries.

The Italian continued to pursue the Trackhouse Aprilia rider before making his move on lap 19. Once in front, Bezzecchi increased his advantage and secured his first victory since the Italian Grand Prix.

The result marked the 300th victory by an Italian rider in MotoGP history, adding another milestone to Bezzecchi’s season.

Aprilia make MotoGP history

Aprilia celebrated a remarkable result by taking all four leading positions. Bezzecchi won ahead of Fernández, with Martín third and Ai Ogura fourth on the Trackhouse machine.

It was the first time Aprilia had secured a one-two-three-four finish in the premier class, underlining the manufacturer’s pace and competitiveness at Mandalika.

Pedro Acosta finished fifth for KTM, while reigning champion Marc Márquez crossed the line sixth for Ducati.

Martín returns to the top of the standings

Martín’s third-place finish proved crucial in the championship battle. The Spaniard moved back to the top of the riders’ standings with 355 points, two ahead of Márquez on 353.

Márquez had won Saturday’s sprint to take the championship lead, but his sixth-place finish in the Grand Prix allowed Martín to regain the advantage.

Bezzecchi’s victory also kept his title hopes alive, although he remains 46 points behind Martín.

Fernández shows resilience despite broken fingers

Fernández produced one of the weekend’s most determined performances, maintaining his challenge despite racing with two fractured fingers.

The Spaniard explained that the injury forced him to adapt his braking technique, making his second-place finish particularly notable.

His performance also helped Trackhouse contribute to Aprilia’s historic sweep of the top four positions.

Championship battle intensifies

The Indonesian Grand Prix delivered a major shift in momentum, with Martín regaining the championship lead and Aprilia demonstrating its strength across both factory and satellite teams.

With the title fight still close, the next rounds will be important for Martín and Márquez as they seek consistency in the closing stages of the season. Bezzecchi, meanwhile, will aim to build on his Mandalika victory and continue reducing the gap to the leaders.
