Played in front of a passionate home crowd at El Menzah Hall in Tunis, Tunisia completed an unbeaten campaign by winning the decisive match 25-22, 25-18, 25-19.
Outside hitter Oussama Ben Romdhane led the way with a match-high 19 points, while opposite Ali Bongui contributed 11 points as the hosts controlled proceedings from start to finish. Tunisia held the edge in attack and remained composed under the pressure of national expectation.
The victory marks Tunisia’s 12th continental title and their first since missing out on the final three years ago in Cairo. It also secures a direct qualification quota for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, marking the North African nation’s eighth appearance at the Olympics.
Tunisia had earlier defeated Rwanda in the quarter-finals and Morocco 3-1 in the semi-finals to reach the final. Cameroon, who had been strong throughout the tournament, were unable to match the hosts’ intensity on the night.
The win carries additional significance for the Tunisian programme. Experienced players such as Khaled Ben Slimene and Ahmed Kadhi, both of whom competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, provided leadership throughout the competition.
In the third-place match earlier in the day, Algeria defeated Morocco 3-0 to claim bronze.
The tournament also determined qualification for the 2027 FIVB Volleyball World Cup, with the top teams securing their places.
Tunisia’s success on home soil underlines their status as one of Africa’s traditional volleyball powerhouses and provides a strong platform as they begin preparations for the Olympic cycle leading to Los Angeles 2028.
