Moses Simon Reaches 100 Caps for Super Eagles

UYO, Nigeria — Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has joined an exclusive group of Nigerian footballers after earning his 100th international cap during Friday’s 2-1 victory over Madagascar in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Paris FC forward became only the fifth player in Super Eagles history to reach a century of appearances for Nigeria. He joins Ahmed Musa (the country’s most-capped player), Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo and Alex Iwobi in the exclusive club.

Simon made his senior debut for Nigeria on 25 March 2015 and has now represented the national team for more than 11 years. Across his 100 appearances he has scored 12 goals, featuring in 64 competitive matches and 35 friendlies. His record includes 23 appearances at AFCON finals and 22 World Cup qualifying matches.

One of his earliest significant contributions came in a 2018 World Cup qualifier against Eswatini (then Swaziland), when he scored a crucial free-kick in Port Harcourt to help secure a vital 2-0 victory.

The Nigeria Football Federation had planned to honour Simon on the occasion of his 100th appearance, recognising his consistency, dedication and longevity in the national team.

Reaching 100 caps is widely regarded as a landmark achievement that reflects hard work, reliability and sustained commitment to the national cause over many years. For Simon, it marks the culmination of more than a decade of service in the green and white jersey.

Still active and performing at club level in France, the winger remains an important part of the Super Eagles setup under coach Eric Chelle. His milestone provides another marker of his enduring contribution to Nigerian football.

Simon’s achievement places him among the most capped players in Super Eagles history and underlines the value of consistency and longevity at international level.
