Squash makes its Olympic debut in Los Angeles. A gold medal in Aichi-Nagoya is an automatic qualifying place. Both Malaysians defended their Asian Games singles titles without dropping a game.
World No. 18 Ng beat India’s Abhay Singh 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 in 33 minutes at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena. He is the first Malaysian athlete to book a place at LA28.

World No. 5 Sivasangari then beat India’s Anahat Singh 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 in 23 minutes. The victories were Malaysia’s fifth and sixth gold medals of the Games.
Anahat Singh, 18 and world junior champion, had reached the final by coming from two games down against Japan’s Satomi Watanabe in the semi-finals. That win made her the first Indian woman to reach an Asian Games squash singles final. “I think it is the best win of my career,” she said after the semi-final. “She’s number six in the world.”

Pakistan took a men’s bronze through Noor Zaman, who beat compatriot Ashab Irfan 3-0. Watanabe beat Hong Kong’s Sin Yuk Chan 3-1 for women’s bronze.
Ng and Sivasangari now have more than a year to prepare for squash’s first Olympic tournament. Malaysia has its first two names on the LA28 list.
