Ethiopian officials to take charge
Tewodros Mitiku has been appointed as the centre referee for the encounter. He will be assisted by compatriots Fasika Biru Fasika and Tigle Belachew, who will serve as the first and second assistant referees respectively.
Manuhe Woldetsadik completes the Ethiopian team as the fourth official.
CAF has also appointed officials from two other African countries for the match. Senegalese official Yaya Balde will serve as the match commissioner, while former FIFA referee Papa Bakary Gassama of The Gambia has been named referee assessor.
Super Eagles face early Group L test
Nigeria head into the fixture after opening their qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over Madagascar in Uyo. The Super Eagles came from behind to secure the win, with George Ilenikhena scoring the equaliser before substitute Moses Usor netted the decisive goal.
Guinea-Bissau also claimed three points in their opening match, defeating Tanzania 2-0. The result put the Djurtus at the top of Group L on goal difference, ahead of Nigeria.
With both sides having won their first matches, Tuesday’s meeting offers Nigeria an opportunity to take control of the group, while Guinea-Bissau will be aiming to maintain their positive start.
Nigeria target another win in Bissau
The Super Eagles will be seeking a strong performance away from home as they continue their pursuit of a place at the 2027 AFCON finals.
Nigeria have recent experience of playing Guinea-Bissau in Bissau, having won 1-0 there during the teams’ 2023 AFCON qualifying campaign. However, the hosts will be encouraged by their opening victory and the chance to move clear at the top of Group L.
The appointment of the Ethiopian officials completes one of the key preparations for the fixture, with attention now turning to the contest itself.
