Malawi, Nigeria and Zambia all finished level on six points.
Under CAF’s ranking criteria for a three-team tie, only the results of the matches played between those three sides were considered:
- Each team recorded one win and one loss (three points each in the mini-league).
- Goal difference in those matches was identical (0).
- Goals scored in the head-to-head matches then decided the order: Malawi (4 goals), Nigeria (3 goals), Zambia (2 goals).
Malawi therefore topped the group, with Nigeria qualifying in second place. Zambia finished third and were eliminated, while Egypt ended without a point.
