Assistant coach Ali Kandil is expected to remain in charge on an interim basis while the board begins the search for a permanent replacement.

Aweroro took charge of Shooting Stars in July 2025 and quickly restored the club’s competitive edge. In his first full season, he guided the side to a third-place finish in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League, securing a long-awaited return to the CAF Confederation Cup after a 27-year absence from continental football.
The young tactician, who previously impressed at Ikorodu City, earned praise for his structured approach and ability to extract consistent performances from the squad. However, the club’s hierarchy now appears ready for a change as preparations intensify for the new domestic season and the challenges of African competition.
