The breakthrough arrived midway through the opening period when Rayon Sports captain Emmanuel Nshimiyimana “Kabange” delivered a precise cross into the box. Kameni finished clinically to give the Blues the lead and send the Amahoro Stadium into celebration.
It was a composed first-half display from the hosts, who have been unbeaten throughout the tournament and reached the final with a 3-1 semi-final victory over South Sudan’s Jamus SC. Gor Mahia, appearing in their first Kagame Cup final since 2015, created moments of threat but struggled to break down a well-organised Rayon defence before the break.

Both clubs entered the final as three-time winners of the regional competition. Gor Mahia last lifted the trophy in 1985 and will be desperate to end a 41-year wait for another title. Rayon Sports, playing on home soil, are chasing a second Kagame Cup crown after their previous success in 1998.
The Kenyan champions had advanced to the final the hard way, defeating Sudan’s Al Hilal 8-7 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the semi-finals. Rayon Sports, meanwhile, have impressed with their attacking fluency and defensive solidity under head coach Francis Christian Haringingo.
