BIRMINGHAM, England — Germany’s Leo Neugebauer was crowned European champion in the men’s decathlon after a commanding performance that delivered a total of 8,611 points.
Neugebauer produced a consistent series across all ten events to secure gold at the European Championships. His individual marks were:

- Long Jump: 7.82m
- Shot Put: 17.13m
- High Jump: 1.99m
- 400m: 48.81
- 110m Hurdles: 14.94
- Discus Throw: 54.31m
- Pole Vault: 4.90m
- Javelin Throw: 60.10m

Compatriot Niklas Kaul mounted a strong challenge on the second day and finished with the silver medal on 8,573 points, completing a German one-two. Norway’s Sander Skotheim claimed bronze with a total of 8,433 points.
