Gor Mahia Suffer Second Defeat in 24 Hours After Friendly Loss to Al Merrikh

KIGALI, Rwanda — Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sudanese side Al Merrikh SC in a friendly match, marking their second consecutive loss in less than 24 hours.

The setback comes shortly after K’Ogalo fell 2-1 to hosts Rayon Sports in the final of the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup at Amahoro Stadium.

Rayon Sports claimed the regional title after a dramatic contest that went into extra time, ending Gor Mahia’s hopes of lifting the trophy for the first time since 1985.

The back-to-back defeats bring a difficult close to the Kenyan side’s campaign in Rwanda as they prepare for the new season and their upcoming CAF Champions League commitments.
