Genk Close to Completing Deal for Ghanaian Forward Jerry Afriyie

GENK, Belgium — Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk are close to agreeing a deal to sign Ghanaian forward Jerry Afriyie from Saudi club Al-Qadsiah.

According to reports, the total package for the transfer is around €6 million. The 19-year-old Ghana U20 international is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Belgian club.

Afriyie spent last season on loan at RAAL La Louvière in Belgium, where he impressed and scored five goals in all competitions. The move would mark a permanent return to Belgian football for the highly rated prospect after a short stint in Saudi Arabia.

An official announcement is anticipated in the coming days as the clubs finalise the remaining formalities.
