TUNIS, Tunisia — Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis have returned to the race for Brazilian forward Lucas Ribeiro.
The Blood and Gold have now placed the $2.2 million fee demanded by his parent club, Al Ittihad Tripoli, on the table.
Negotiations between the two clubs are actively underway, with sources indicating that the deal is progressing after earlier attempts stalled.
Ribeiro, a former Mamelodi Sundowns star, had previously been linked with a move to Espérance earlier in the window before complications arose over his agreement with the Libyan side. The Tunisian club’s decision to meet Al Ittihad’s asking price has now reopened talks and put the transfer back on track.
Further developments are expected in the coming days as both parties work to finalise the agreement.
