The Indomitable Lionesses earned their place at the global tournament with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over defending champions Nigeria in the quarter-finals at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium. Myriam Maéva Nyadjou Wamen scored the decisive goal from a free-kick in the 19th minute, and Cameroon held firm against sustained pressure from the Super Falcons.
Under the tournament regulations, the four WAFCON semi-finalists automatically qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. Cameroon join hosts Morocco and Algeria, who had already booked their places with earlier quarter-final wins.
This will be Cameroon’s third appearance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Lionesses previously competed in 2015 and 2019, and their return to the global stage marks a significant achievement following their absence from the previous WAFCON edition.
Cameroon will now face Morocco in the semi-finals as they continue their campaign for continental glory while celebrating their confirmed place at the expanded World Cup in Brazil next year.
