Madrid, Spain — Real Madrid have had an official €100 million opening bid for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomandé rejected, escalating one of the summer’s most closely watched transfer battles.
According to multiple reports, Los Blancos tabled a structured offer of €90 million in guaranteed fees plus €10 million in add-ons. Leipzig turned it down immediately, insisting on a valuation well above €100 million, with sources indicating the German club values the 19-year-old closer to €120–130 million.
Despite the rejection, Real Madrid are understood to remain in direct talks as they seek to land one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers.
PSG hold the edge on personal terms
Paris Saint-Germain have been locked in discussions for weeks and have already reached a verbal agreement with Diomandé on personal terms for a long-term deal running to 2031. The Ligue 1 champions and reigning European title holders have yet to agree a transfer fee with Leipzig, leaving the door open for Madrid to intervene.
Premier League clubs including Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have also registered interest and made inquiries. However, the player’s representatives have shown little appetite for a move to England, with Diomandé’s clear preference reported to be between Paris and Madrid.
Breakout season and World Cup impact
Diomandé enjoyed a sensational debut campaign at Leipzig after joining from Spanish side Leganés for around €20 million in the summer of 2025. He recorded 12 goals and eight assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances, helping the club secure Champions League qualification.
The Ivorian international further enhanced his reputation with strong performances for Ivory Coast at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he started multiple matches and contributed key moments as the Elephants reached the knockout stages.
Still contracted to Leipzig until 2030, the teenager gives the Bundesliga side significant negotiating power. Club officials have publicly stated their desire to keep him for at least another season, though the volume of interest means a sale remains possible if their high valuation is met.
Should Real Madrid return with an improved offer, it would increase pressure on PSG to finalise their long-running pursuit or risk missing out on their primary summer target.
